Morning at Marine Drive
Taking a break from
Anyways, most probably I’ll resume it in a week’s time or so. Meanwhile I thought of coming back to Indian scenario.
The other Sunday morning I just wanted to go out to a quiet secluded place. Not able to decide where to go, I took an early morning train to Churchgate. Since I am very fond of walking, started walking towards
Can you guess what it is ? Does it remind you of anything ? Mumbai people, please keep quiet.
I walked the entire length of Marine Drive till the end. Because of tiling of this pathway and other construction work it was a little dusty.
It was nice to see a couple oblivious of this world spending some quiet moments. If you enlarge the picture, you can see fishing motorboats coming back after getting the day's first catch. Also, in the background one can see the Raj Bhawan area (governor's house). Banganga is very near to that place.
The lone boat trying to catch its share in the moolah. Can you see dull gray coloured quiet water ?
While coming back I clicked this. The other gate of Cricket Club of India.
Hmmm Marine Drive does look good. :)

nice photos.. 2nd & 3rd photos reminds me of Munna bhai :)
Nice, quiet and calm pictures to start Spring! :))
A jump from Lac Leman to Arabian Sea? Nice one... Marine Drive is one of the best (only?) roads in Mumbai worth walking on.
BTW, 4th photo? Naughty naughty...
Prashanth,
Thank you. Hmmm.. Are you a Munnabhai fan ? ;)
Gil,
Thank you. :)
Fleiger,
Marine Drive is one of the best (only?) roads in Mumbai worth walking on.. Yes, you are right unless you go to Navi Mumbai. :P Have you ever been to Mumbai ?
4th photo? Naughty naughty... Who’s naughty ? Them or you ? :P
Ha Ha.. I was not clicking them. It was sea that was on my mind. You can see another view of them on my Flickr.
hey, but are the concrete kind of structures?
Hey where is my comment?
Mridula,
Guess, guess.. :))
Fleiger,
Which comment ? Have you posted it correctly ? Blogger is becoming unreliable. I always do a refresh after posting it, just to see if it has gone or not.
Write it again pls.
Awesome.....Never been to Marine drive...looks great...would like to go there next time I come to mumbai
It said the comment has been posted, what more can I do? :(((
I had asked you where do you find "peace and quiet" on Marine Drive on Sunday morning?
And about naughty: you, them and me, in that order, with me third because there was nobody else in the race ;)
Don't agree, read your own reply, and how much "sea" is in the photo ;)
Ajeya,
Even I went there very recently. Yes, you should visit this at least once.
During rains, Marine Drive has its own charm with tides coming up high and rains lashing you. :))
Fleiger,
where do you find "peace and quiet" on Marine Drive on Sunday morning? See for yourself. You have to go early morning. :)
Hmmm.. more of sea & less of ground it is. ;) See the other photo in Flickr which has even more sea to see.
Loved the first pic a lot...it had that silverish grey tinge and sun reflection....!
So was this the first time you did this thingy...taking a walk...??
beautiful sea and palm trees!!
i guess night view in the beach is also awesome n romantic(??)
u are lucky to live in such great environment, cuckoo-chan :))
BTR,
Well, I am quite fond of walking and do it whenever possible.. abroad I do it a lot. Walk for kilometers at a stretch.
No, it was not my first time walk along the Marine Drive. It was first time at sunrise with my camera. :P
Also, it is quite far from where I stay so not possible to go there everyday.
Niki-chan,
Yes, in night it is much more beautiful with lights along the drive. It is famously known as Queen's necklace. :)
I have been to Marine Drive, and I have seen those structures, but never got to know what they were. Come on, now tell us, dont keep up the suspense :-))
And I have seen Queen's necklace ... it indeed looks pretty ... but my regular 35-mm camera wasnt capable enough to take a good picture ....
Very nice picture of Sunrise. also liked the pictur of lone boat.
Memories....I miss home :-(
Sigma,
Those concrete structures are called boulders and kept to stop sea water from cutting on the edges. They are huge in size & all numbered.. some pieces are as old as in 1950's !!
You can see them in pictures 1 to 4.
I have never seen the Queen's necklace in the evening. Will make it one fine day. ;)
Ranjeet,
Thank you. First one is my choice as well.
Memories....I miss home... Awwww.. I never wanted to make you look sad.
nice pics cucks!marine drive is probably the only place in bombay that looks gr8 even at nite...absolutely love the "town" side of mumbai..nice art deco buildings and wide roads...damn peaceful
Abhijeet,
Hmmm.. only South Mumbai or Navi Mumbai-Palm Beach road.
What I know about the boats and ships once the low tide starts they hoist these flags atop them so that others don't run aground.
Ohh I didn't know about it. Thanks for sharing.
It reminds me of "Satya". "Mumbai ka king kaun... Bhiku Mhatre"
It did bring back memories. Thanks.
