Lac Léman – Some pictures

Here are some more pictures of Geneva Lake called Lac Léman.

You might be wondering why there are two types (scanned & digital) of pictures on my blog. The reason is very simple.
When I reached
Geneva I had a still camera with me (I am a big fan of still photography, specially B & W photography). The quality of digital pictures are no match to still ones.
However, the ease of use and expenses involved are the main advantages of having a digital one. So, after sometime I also bought my first digicam, an expensive one and used it for 3-4 months. Then a colleague borrowed it for two days and lost it ! I decided not to buy another one for at least a year. Hence back to still camera. Some places I visited twice so you’ll have mix of still & digital pictures. Enjoy !! As always click on the picture for an enlarged view.

This was a ship always standing near the bridge. I think it must have been an old ship. Every weekend it was booked by locals to host some party.. full with music and wine till wee hours. If I get I’ll show you some pictures of nightlife on this ship. I am sure I have them somewhere. We were never invited though. :((

The lake is full of these lovely swans. They are just not scared of humans and eat anything that is offered to them like bread, croissants, fruits etc. In the background you can see people going towards Jet d'eau.

The water jet. It was always fun going near it as even from a distance, the sky touching showers always make you wet. If you enlarge the picture, you can see hundreds of sail boats parked near jet area. Also, can you see buildings in the back ground ? My apartment was in one of them.
Green on the left side is a huge park.

Standing tall and alone. The light house in the lake.

Quiet wintry evenings by the lake.

Beautiful shots. Calm and quiet. Almost Swiss...
Did you manage to catch Mont Blanc? Though many times in Geneva, only saw it very seldom...

Gil,
Thanks for visiting my blog again !

Though I could see the peak of Mont Blanc from my place, unfortunately I couldn't go to Chamonix which is most famous ski resort in France. But could cover other places in the Alps.
I wanted to go to Chamonix in winters but instead went to Jungfraujoch, Montana and Zermatt.. all very famous points in Switzerland.

You lost your digital camera? Bad luck... Double bad luck since you didn't get invited to party.

But you are right, film always has better resolution than digital media. I don't want to go in details...

Lovely pics. I specially like the ones of the boat.
Sorry to hear about the sad and sudden departure of your digital camera. They are indeed very handy and useful .....
And you sure had a lovely place to stay at !!!

PM,
Thank you.

Fleiger,
Yes, it was bad luck. :((
film always has better resolution than digital media… Yes, I have 2 albums full of photos of famous tulips of Holland with still camera. So vibrant and rich coloured they are but when I tried to get them scanned I felt like throwing them away. I wish I could show you the actual photos.

Sigma,
Thank you.
And you sure had a lovely place to stay at.. I didn’t want to come back from there when my assignment got over.

Nikichan,
so did ur friend pay for it??. No, he just made a long face. Didn’t even ask how much it was for ! :((

BTR,
Winters are very dull there. In spite of that the picture is very beautiful.

Thanks for coming !

Nice pics, especially "Quiet wintry evenings by the lake". I liked the last pic best!
I have a friend who has been in Switzerland for some years now, it has been a long time that we talked. I will check with him on his whereabouts and let you know the same and you may contact him if you need any help.

About those tulips' photos - do the best that is possible - maybe getting to see the scanned pics would be better than not seeing them at all ... or try taking a picture of the photo using a digital camera ... many times they are passable too!

Sigma,
I have tried that also. Doesn't come out good because most of the pictures are glossy and taking picture of the glossy ones isn't that fun. :(

Anyways, don't worry. I'll do my best.
